Best Brunch Spots in DFW
Living in DFW and being from rural Northeast Texas, I often get questions about the best places to eat when friends and family visit. Because I most often get asked about brunch spots I decided to share my favorites in a blog post! I’ve found the following to be my go-to locations around DFW! Whether you’re looking for a spot you can dress up to go to, have the best cocktails and a view, or something a little more casual – there’s a spot for every occasion on the list, and the food at each is superb!
Haywire
Uptown Dallas or Plano
Taste of Texas
Haywire is probably my favorite brunch spot of all in DFW. Their cocktails are always spot on and when they say their menu is “where Texas tried-and-true meets urban refresh” they mean it! If you order a whiskey cocktail on the rocks, it will likely come in a low-ball glass with one giant ice cube which has a Texas-shaped cutout in it. I love all of the little details of this restaurant – especially that one! If you’re like me, you’ll find yourself lost in the upscale ranch aesthetic of this restaurant instead of following the hostess to your table. Each level of the three-story building (Plano location) offers different things: the 1st floor is a whiskey bar, the 2nd floor is the dining floor, and the 3rd floor is a rooftop patio. The rooftop patio is not open for brunch, so we typically ask for outdoor balcony seating on the 2nd floor. The balcony overlooks a turf courtyard with a stage, surrounded by other restaurants. My order typically consists of biscuits and gravy as an appetizer, a Front Porch Swing specialty cocktail (Deep Eddy Grapefruit Vodka, Campari, pineapple, lime, simple syrup, & mint), and a house salad. I cannot explain how perfect their house salad is, but if your needing something more filling definitely spring for the chicken and waffles! Honestly, everything on their menu that I’ve tried has been SO tasty. With that said, this spot really has it all, and it seems like everyone in town knows it, so if you’re planning to try it out for brunch make sure to make a reservation on the OpenTable app first!
Mi Dia from Scratch
Plano, Grapevine, or Flower Mound
Tex-Mex
Mi Dia has been a go-to brunch location since before I moved to Dallas in 2019! When you think of brunch you probably don’t think Tex-Mex, but Mi Dia’s brunch menu will have you thinking otherwise. My order typically consists of the chicken & waffles (Are y’all seeing a pattern here? I love chicken and waffles) and a Lucky Eddy Martini! Each of the three locations has nice outdoor patio seating and if the weather is nice we usually ask to sit there! If that doesn’t do it for you Mi Dia was also voted in the Top 10 Tex-Mex restaurants in America by USA Today!
Sixty Vines
Uptown Dallas or Plano
Wine Country Cuisine
I would go to either Sixty Vines location for the aesthetic ALONE! However, the food and drinks are also impeccable. Sixty Vines gets its name from having more than 60 wines on tap, and although I’m not a huge wino, I still love this restaurant. For brunch cocktails, I recommend the Havana Cold Brew, and for an entrée, the Almond Chiffon French Toast. They have other great options too, like charcuterie boards, AND they have a café in the restaurant which offers some of my favorite coffee - Ascension Cold Brew! Each location has beautiful outdoor seating, and when the weather is nice, this is where I like to be! This is definitely another location you will want to make reservations at first!
7 Doors
The Colony
Modern American
7 Doors is a new favorite on this list of brunch spots! It won’t be hard to tell where they get their name from as you’ll see beautiful French colonial doors from the 1800s as you walk through the restaurant. 7 Doors is a great option for you’re planning a day around the Grandscapes area: shopping at Nebraska Furniture Mart or Scheels, getting a round of adult putt-putt in at Puttery, going go-carting at Andretti or TopGolf! My recommendations from the menu are only the healthiest – for a brunch cocktail I recommend an espresso martini with Kahlua and vodka, truffle fries as an appetizer, and French toast or eggs benedict as your entree. Also, bring cash for valet so you don’t have to walk too far if the parking lot is full!
The Rustic
Dallas
American Eats w/ Live Tunes
If you want to catch some good live tunes and great food for brunch this is the spot to be! When you walk into the Rustic you definitely get the feeling it could be co-owned by one of the Texas Country Music greats – Pat Green! Good vibes and good music. Brunch is served family-style which is so nice for a larger group. For cocktails, I recommend the bloody mary or bellini!
RH Rooftop Restaurant
Dallas
American Eats
Of all of the restaurants on this list, this is definitely the one I recommend if you prefer a beautiful restaurant aesthetic over having a large menu of items to choose from. While RH is one of the prettiest restaurants I have ever been in, the menu was definitely lacking in options. Although, of the options available, the truffle fries and burger were great! I also highly recommend their bellini! Absolutely make reservations for this spot beforehand!
Black Walnut Café
Frisco, Coppell, Allen, or Colleyville
American Eats
Black Walnut Cafe has been one of my favorite spots for the longest! They have several locations around DFW and never fail to have quality eats no matter the location. I recommend the croissant biscuits and gravy or French toast, and if you’re feeling like a drink from their bar, I recommend a screwdriver with their fresh-squeezed orange juice or a bloody mary flight!
Snooze AM Eatery
Dallas or Addison
Craveable Breakfast Eats
Snooze’s Addison location is probably the closest restaurant on this list to where I live – considering that, I’ve probably had Snooze most of all! It’s totally expected that every weekend morning the line into Snooze will be out the door, but it is TOTALLY worth the wait. I’m not sure how they make typical breakfast food taste so much better than normal, but they do a great job at it! I recommend the eggs benedict, the pancake flight, or… yes, you guessed it… French toast. While they do have a bar, I typically like ordering an iced coffee here, because, like their food, it is so much better than regular coffee.
Bread Winners
Dallas (x3) or Plano
American Deli-Style Eats
Bread Winners is overall just a solid breakfast spot. Whether you’re trying to eat healthier or want breakfast “all of the fixings,” Bread Winners probably has what you want. For a healthier meal, I recommend the homemade granola or oatmeal! For something less on the healthier side, I recommend the chicken and waffles or French ham benedict. On drinks, the hibiscus mule is great!
The Biscuit Bar
Dallas, Plano, or Coppell
Southern Goodness on a Biscuit
If you’re looking for a brunch option that’s more fast-casual but still offers great eats, this is the spot for you! The Biscuit Bar’s slogan is “Everything is better on a biscuit!” and when you leave there, you will believe it! I recommend the F.A.B.B. biscuit with fig preserves, arugula, crispy bacon, and brie. For drinks, I recommend trying their cereal cocktails – but if you don’t think alcohol goes in milk, maybe try a different cocktail on their menu! If you have the choice of location, I recommend trying the Plano location because it’s located on the Granite Boardwalk which is so nice to look at while you enjoy a meal!
Norma’s Cafe
Dallas, Addison, Frisco, or Plano
Homestyle Southern Cooking
When I think of a local café for comfort food, I think of Norma’s. While the menu is an all-day menu, I think their breakfast is the best. As far as recommendations, their biscuits and gravy and chicken fried steak with gravy is awesome, but I think you could try anything on their menu and it would be great – I know everything I’ve tried has been great.
Ascension Coffee
Addison, Coppell (Cypress Waters), Frisco (The Star), Uptown Dallas (Hotel Crescent Court), or Dallas (Design District), or Fort Worth
Craft Coffee, Wine, & Food
Ascension Coffee is some of my favorite coffee ever + they have food! Think Starbucks, but BETTER… much better. Any of their locations are great spots to grab a cup of joe or iced caramel macchiato and bacon, egg, cheese croissant (my order) when you’re on the run but don’t necessarily have time to stop for breakfast or brunch!
Most of these restaurants are open for dinner as well, so if you're in DFW later in the day you can still try these spots out! Download the OpenTable app to skip the wait by making reservations!
